Senior Manager's Corner

August and the dog days of summer continue...

President Obama just completed his visit here to the Seattle Area this week. He met with several small business owners during a roundtable discussion...the only event that wasn't a political fund raiser during his 4 hour visit here. Darn, I wasn't invited.

Quoted comment from President Obama: "At the heart of this rebuilding effort are three simple words: "Made in America,"

Gosh, I'd wish the President would have visited our place of business. That is what Gourmet Display strives for in the face of increased import low-price/low quality competition.
Also why we continue to thank our customers for their orders; your loyalty and patronage of our company's high quality products support Made In America jobs!

Surprise, surprise, surprise...a Gomer moment.

As we were sitting in a daily sales meeting yesterday afternooon, our building and front doors shook suddenly & somewhat violently! What was that? was the expression on the staff faces. Here is what that was.

  • Minutes before Obama left the Seattle Westin hotel, two loud booms were heard. The booms came from two F-15 fighters that broke the sound barrier as they raced to Seattle from Tacoma's McChord Airbase when a private plane entered the 10-mile restricted area set up around Boeing Field, according to Allen Kenitzer, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration

Yes, two very loud and shaking SONIC BOOMS! I'll bet the pilot of that small plane was surprised by the F-15 zoomie-fast movers.
In a matter of hours, an local entrepreneur at a Tee shirt company had the slogan; Obooma's Seattle Visit 2010.

On to business news...

For this coming fall we are already working on a few new product style additions. Look for these to be introduced on the Gourmet Display website by October 2010.

Unit sales of Gourmet Display brand metal stands-tiers continue to grow in popularity as the high quality and Lifetime Weld Warranty are obvious when placed side-X-side and compared to the cheap import tiers.

Porcelain, glass and melamine bowl-platter orders are also doing well. We are seeing many customers ordering these high quality plates-bowls etc for their tabletop needs in addition to display tiers.

Summer vacation time is at it's height here in our office but we still answer our phones to address your needs as part of our 1-2 punch; High quality products & great customer service are the 2 main focus points of the 3 point marketing triangle; you can have the best quality, best service or best (low) price...pick two because it is almost impossible but extremely rare to achieve all 3 points.
